Happy Thanksgiving!

At my family's request we had a super traditional and relaxing Thanksgiving. The Griggstown Quail Farm turkey was the most delicious turkey that we have ever had! Unbelievably good! Fresh and local is definitely the way to go! The sides were dressing (I didn't stuff it in the turkey), whipped potatoes, cabernet cranberries, butternut squash puree, creamed onions, mashed turnips, biscuits, and the dreaded green bean casserole with crunchy onions - I tried to lose it :) but I was overruled! It was so nice to have my family together to enjoy a delicious meal. Nothing fancy, just fresh, homemade, traditional foods. What a great day! The best is that I got a huge turkey and we have lots of leftovers! Happy Thanksgiving and a blessed holiday season to all!

  1. I'm glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Your bird looks fantastic, and all your sides sound really great as well. (Lol, in the past, my mom has tried to lose the ever-present green bean casserole too!) Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  2. Thank you Faith! My turkey was done earlier than expected. I had to rush getting the sides out - no pictures to be had, but we had a delicious dinner. I finally made a decent gravy :)

  3. I've always wondered whether spending the extra money for the Griggstown turkeys was worth it. I do love their poussins and duck, so I guess the turkey must be really great too.

  5. I love that you make mashed turnips...my favorite! That turkey looks awesome too. I agree that fresh turkey beats the frozen stuff hands down! When I used to live in Jersey we always got a fresh turkey from the local turkey farm.
